Who am I?

I'm Kaleel Zibe and I'm a professional photographer based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England. I specialise in wildlife & natural history images, but cover all sorts of other things including people, property, industrial, events, sports and commercial photography.

Some background

The silly name is arabic (dad was Lebanese), although I've lived in England since the age of two after emigrating from New Guinea.

After working at a company called Multichem Ltd. in the ink manufacturing business in various roles (including running it for 3 years) I became increasingly frustrated with the amount of stress the job generated. Even though the position and the foreign travel sounded exciting, I needed to see the family more and to get out into the open air and take photographs. I needed to get a life, frankly.

So...

After 13 years at Multichem, In February 2007 I fired myself!

I promoted our then General Manager to the post of Chief Executive and he runs the company better than I ever could have. I still retain a majority shareholding in Multichem and am regularly in touch at arms length but do my best not to meddle. This gives me the time I need to do what I really enjoy doing and as a result, I have a life again. A very busy one, but one I love. I worked for a year as a web designer but then chucked everything at photography and became a pro in February 2008.

The kids eventually started calling me 'daddy' again instead of 'that man that's always at the office', which helps.

Oh, and

As of this year (2011), I'll be taking an increasing role in Chris Weston Wildlife Photography Workshops. I'll be running some of the workshops myself this year and we'll be developing the business to include more workshops.

I'm also a founding shareholder of a new company offering CPD training to soliciors. I do the videography and video editing.
