Kaleel is involved in the Save Gosforth Wildlife Campaign, which objects to the Newcastle and Gateshead Council plans to develop the land next to the Gosforth Park Nature Reserve.
This Reserve has red squirrels, badgers, deer, bitterns, kingfishers, bats and countless other charismatic and threatened species, which would lose foraging ground if the 600 houses were built next door. The pressures from this many people, dogs and cats, as well as increased traffic and noise on the reserve would also be significant.
Along with friend and business partner at Hawk’s Head Photography Workshops Alan Hewitt, Kaleel has gathered photographic and video evidence of the resident species and passed these over to the Natural History Society of Northumbria for submission to the council.
So far, the campaign has been successful, although there is an appeals process. Fingers crossed.
